The quality and safety of our transport services matter a great deal to us. A quality management system providing for well-coordinated processes and highly-qualified staff is a prerequisite for achieving these goals.

Quality is everything to DB Schenker Rail Italia - to ensure customer satisfaction. This is why we keep all resources in the transport chain such as locomotives, freight cars, planning and scheduling as well as higly-qualified staff in our own hands – across borders! For us, quality management means continuously analyzing and evaluating service processes.

Quality at DB Schenker Rail is certified

In order to achieve our goal in the long term as well, we have set up a quality management system for which we have gained certification in Germany in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2000. Our environment management system is certified to DIN EN ISO 14001. In the hazardous goods sector, DB Schenker Rail has been approved in accordance with the SQAS (Security and Quality Assessment System). The standards we apply to our operating processes are identical throughout Europe.

DB Schenker Rail transports your goods. Safely!

Transportation with DB Schenker Rail is safe – this is a promise we make to our customers. Because safety is top priority at DB Schenker Rail. And yet, if a problem occurs, thanks to our emergency management system we are ready to intervene immediately. Transporting hazardous goods requires competence and experience - DB Schenker Rail has both. Rail, being a guided system, is the safest mode of transport, especially for hazardous goods. Roughly every sixth ton of freight transported by DB Schenker Rail is listed as "hazardous goods". Examples of hazardous goods include mineral oil products and chemicals. Rail has been the safest mode of transport for hazardous substances for as long as the chemical and mineral oil industries have existed.

Experience puts us a step ahead

Decades of handling hazardous goods have given us a considerable head start. The basis of this is our own safety and emergency management system, which works round the clock.

This includes conducting as many individual checks as possible - above and beyond the legally required spot tests. If during this process we come across irregularities, we rectify them immediately - so that we can promptly continue transportation of the goods entrusted to us.

Just in case

If, in spite of all the safety precautions, an incident should occur, our emergency management system kicks in immediately - so that we can keep the damage to the absolute minimum. Our DB Schenker Rail emergency management team can be reached round the clock and initiates the required measures immediately. This includes coordinating cooperation with infrastructure managers, authorities, branch offices and control centers.

Tailor-made for the customer

For us, safety also means the security of the goods we transport. As part of our security management system, we develop tailor-made security concepts for the transport of goods for our customers. Thanks to modern surveillance technology and a comprehensive preventative security concept, DB Schenker Rail protects your goods from vandalism, theft and damage to property – during transport and standing times.

This enables us to offer our customers many features as part of their individual security package, such as transport surveillance using GPS and/or mobile cameras or a new satellite-based door locking mechanism.
